Why not more often?
November 29th, 2006Funny thing about building websites – I rarely have someone ask me about our experience or success at building and integrating eCommerce solutions. If I were going to commission a design/programming firm to deliver custom programming and eCommerce integration, I would want to know what experience they have with doing things similar to my idea, as well as what other relevant experience they can offer to my project. In our case, many of our clients have called on us, so they have already determined that we fit their need based on our portfolio and case studies. On the other hand, clients that we have intentionally marketed to, we need to “sell” our experience through our clients’ success.
The other question that doesn’t come up enough is what qualifies us to do eCommerce. Besides getting certified from different Credit Card Processors – why doesn’t anyone ask us how we are doing on our own sales? I guess its like asking Microsoft if they use their own products to sell their own products. In our case, the web designers we work with usually use our programming for the internal work as well as our internal business ventures that include eCommerce websites. I believe that is what qualifies us. As opposed to the programming shops out there that only have provided eCommerce to their clients and haven’t had their own finances and time invested in trying to make a website profitable. That is what makes us stand out.
