Destin Charity Wine Auction
The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) grew from a long tradition of wine enthusiasts who wanted to enhance the Emerald Coast Community. Originally called the Sandestin Wine Festival which began in 1986, the event grew to include more than just enhancing the local community. As the Destin Charity Wine Auction, the event now impacts the global community as it now centers around the support of charities which better the lives of children.
Project
Because of the rapidly increasing success and scope of the event, the foundation needed a way to supplement the existing reservation and ticketing process, which was done primarily over the phone. In order to accomplish this, the site needed to include an online credit card processing system as well as an automatic ticket generator to give online customers the option of getting their tickets immediately. Administrators needed an effective way to receive and view online orders and reservations.
Process
Integrating the site with Google Checkout allowed the Foundation to lower its overhead costs rather than allocating raised funds for high dollar online credit card processing. By taking advantage of an introductory special, the DCWA was able to use Google Checkout with no transaction fees so they were able to keep 100% of the event's profits. Once an order was placed, a confirmation email was automatically generated to the customer, which provided a link to print their tickets directly. Administrators were notified of online orders via email and were able to keep an online register of these orders.
Product
Successful integration with Google Checkout allowed a substantial portion of ticket sales to be made online. Because the event has expanded to include patrons from across the country, this integration allowed for the convenience of out of town participants. We were happy to be associated with this fine group of people and their event, and to provide them with a low-cost solution through which they were able to maximize their charitable potential.
